Birthday!

I love celebrating birthdays, especially mine!  I usually don't do anything big - I just like having your own special day :)

The weather has been fabulous this week - so we've all been enjoying it!

The peepers are peeping.  Daffodils are blooming.  The doors and windows are open!  Love having an early spring.  Hope it stays!!

Burn Day!

We haven't burned in a couple years, and we need it!  We have lost a lot of limbs this winter, so it's going to take us a few days to get it all burnt.  Last weekend, we did a small burn pile in the front.

Fortunately, we've had a decent winter, so we should get it all burned by the deadline, May 1st.
In a few weeks, we'll tackle the back yard.

Yacht Club Party!!

We finally attended a yacht club party.  Seems like we're always out of town when they happen.

This one was a ski party theme.  Good music!

 Fun friends!
Then everyone got crazy throwing snowballs (decorations)
Poor Joe was bombarded!  It was  a lot of fun and many laughs!

Looking for apartments

My nephew's new wife is taking a job in Boston, and needs an apartment.  So I got to spend the day in the city, checking out some cute places!

The first place was on a really cute street - but it was a basement apartment.  FYI - rental prices are ridiculously expensive in Boston - $2k for a studio...
This unit was furnished - and really nice.  But
the ceilings were low.  6'4 is the height, and my nephew (not pictured here) is 6'2".  This is the rental agent who is 6'8"
The next apartment was on the same street - right down the road
It was a small 1 bedroom.  I really liked the layout - but it was pretty dingy.
 Love the exposed brick walls!

The next place was a little more contemporary looking on the outside.
 The kitchen was nicely updated
But the rest of the apartment was a little strange.  I did like the wood beams in the ceiling.  The bedroom was huge!  And there was a giant walk in closet.
Another place I looked at was near Fenway Park.  It was on a really busy corner though.
 Nice living room and kitchen
But the unit was right off the front door - by the mailboxes and elevators.  You would hear everyone coming and going...
Another place I looked at was more in the financial district - but close to Boston Common
It used to be a hotel.  And while the kitchen and bathrooms were nice
It really felt like a hotel

The last place I visited (which turned out to be the winner - chosen by my niece & nephew) was on a cute street; near Boston Common & Beacon Hill
My phone died, so I only took a few photos.  But the kitchen was nice
 Fun fireplace
Nice wood floors - but the unit is tiny
I think they will be happy here!

Some warmer weather is always nice!

It's nice when the weather warms up and we can go for a nice walk & not freeze!

There are so many limbs down from the last storms!  Every where you look - branches, branches, branches
We have some monster ones in our own yard that we have to clean up & burn!  Looking forward to spring!

Annual trip to Saratoga Springs, NY

Our hot rod friends have a 'garage' night every February and we love to attend it!  It's fun to do a hot rod event in the winter, we love catching up with friends, and we love visiting Saratoga!

It is such a cute town - lots of shops and restaurants.

They are now famous for having won the small business award - which gave them an ad spot in Superbowl 50!  Death Wish coffee - sold at Saratoga Coffee Traders.
It was very smooth and yummy!
The first night in Saratoga - the hot rodders meet up for a nice dinner :)  We sat with our friends Jim & Bill!
A new movie about their annual trip to Bonneville was just released, so we watched it after dinner.   Chris got the movie for Christmas, so we had seen it before.  It is still good enough to watch again and again.  Fun with a big crowd.
The coldest temps in many many many years had to happen that weekend.  We woke up to -15 (before the wind chill - and it was a blowin'!)  This is Saratoga Lake - frozen tundra!
We stopped by the garage in the afternoon to check things out before the big crowds arrive.  We saw our friends Bill & Bob
And some very cool chopped hot rods!

Plus all the cool artwork and T shirts that help spread the 'Bones' name!
After we had dinner with some non hot rod friends, we went back to the garage.  Much busier!

Sunday morning, we met up with the die hards for breakfast.  It's a great way to end the weekend - and hear about the funny stuff that happened long after we left the garage...
Bolts went to doggie daycare this year, since it was going to be so cold.  He had a good time - chillin with his own friends on this nice comfy couch ;)
