Another day on the Vineyard

It was nice to sleep in and be lazy :)  Bolts was especially happy.  It was going to be sunny and warm, so we wanted to stay cool as long as possible.
We brought our fat tire bikes, and Bolts Buddy Rider, so we went on a nice bike ride to Edgartown.
There are so many nice bike paths on the Vineyard - makes it easy to get around

Edgartown is such a pretty town.

Bolts is very happy to just sit in his buddy rider and look around.  Thank goodness!  So after a cruise through Edgartown, we headed to South Beach/Katama.

Then we headed back to Oak Bluffs.  It was a 3 hour tour!!

Our friends from our yacht club arrived that night.  They have a nice big power boat, so we relaxed on their boat that night :)  They have a nice upper deck, so we could see a lot more.

Sailing trip - Day #2

We woke up to fog - yuck.  We only needed around 4 hours to get to Oak Bluffs on Martha's Vineyard, so we weren't in any rush at least.

We headed to shore, so Bolts could do his business.

Covid 19 signage is prevalent on the island - wear a mask & social distance. Nothing new for us, so it wasn't a big deal.

We took another nice walk around the island.  It's very picturesque

This cute bunny wasn't afraid of Bolts at all - just kept nibbling on the long grass

We walked out to the coast guard station.  It was pretty quiet

Back on the sailboat - still a lot of fog, but we could see that it was starting to burn off...
By noon, we were off!  There was still some patchy fog, but we could see at least a half mile.  And we were headed into clear skies.
Martha's Vineyard!  Oh, how we love thee :)
It's a narrow channel heading into Oak Bluffs harbor.

We had plenty of space around us on the dock which was nice :)  We knew it would be filling up though.
It had turned into a beautiful day, so we took a nice walk around Oak Bluffs.  We watched the ferry land and disembark it's summer travelers
Yep, masks required!  We wear Buffs, which work perfectly, especially when exercising.

 Flowers on the Vineyard :)

We ordered take out and relaxed on the sailboat.   Ahhh, lovely evening.
It got a little cool too, so perfect for sleeping

Sailing Trip!

The night before - we tied up to the BYC dock, so we could load our bikes & bags :)
Our friend, Bob, stopped by and we celebrated with a cocktail & watched some of the single handed sailboat racers practice

Beautiful sunset

Up & at 'em early!  (not so early, 8:30, we left the dock)  Bolts was already yawning and we hadn't even left the mooring field ;)

Not much wind, so we had to motor sail the first part of our trip.   This big guy passed us - he was moving right along.
Down the Sakonnet  river, no sailing here as it's too narrow.  But there is a lot to see

For once, Bolts was content to sleep on the floor and not on my lap.  A half benedryl may have helped!  He's turned into such a nervous nelly lately.
Sailing into the wild blue yonder!!  Love it!

It was a slow trip, but we finally made it to Cuttyhunk Island.  Our first stop.
 The harbor was pretty quiet.

We grabbed a mooring and then jumped into the dinghy to take Bolts to shore.  He needed to pee!!

We took a nice long walk around the island.  There isn't a lot to see.  Some homes, a sailing center, a couple raw bar restaurants...

 It's pretty though

plenty of room in the harbor!
 Our sailboat

Lovely sunset.  It was a nice calm evening, so we slept really good :)
