Flash Back Friday - 2002

Chris & I helped his friend Jeff move his power boat from Ft Lauderdale, FL to Hyannis, MA!  It was a great experience and one I'll always treasure.  Except for the part where Jeff left us at the dock, haha!  True!  We told him that we were going for a short run in the morning before we left, but he didn't believe us.  We did go for the run, and when we got back to the slip - no boat!  Fortunately, there was a pay phone near by, and we were able to call my mom in IL (it was 5:00 am!).  She in turn called Jeff and told him that we weren't on the boat.  Oh, he laughed and laughed!  It was pretty funny, and we were actually never that worked up or worried.    Fortunately,  he wasn't too far away, so we took a cab to the next marina north and met him.    And now it's a story that we can laugh about and share :)

Working at home - on some small home decor

We love our big blue wall in our bedroom, but have been planning on adding to it.  We just couldn't decide on what.  We thought about putting a beam (like the one on our fireplace), but then we remembered we had this cool flat board (also from the Acushnet Saw Mill, 1860's)  And we decided to try it.
We might add a couple shells, or maybe not.  We like the driftwood, and the sailboat pictures, and our cool lanterns.  We need to change out our simple end tables with some neat antiques at some point.  We're just happy that we've made some progress!  Winter is good for projects :)

Fall leaves

Ugh - that time of year where mowing, raking, etc only keeps your yard clear for a few hours.
Or in some cases, just a few minutes!!  Here it's done and is looking good - too bad it doesn't last.
But soon the leaves will all be down, and we can really get our yard cleaned up.  I just hope it's before the snow comes!

Frozen treats

We love simple ingredient treats, and we found a good one for Bolts!  He has terrible breath (maybe because he likes to eat poop???), so we thought we would try these breath mints.  And they are a hit.  I can't say they really make his breath minty fresh, but it definitely helps!

And for us - NO bake energy bites - rolled oats, almond butter, honey, chia seeds, protein powder, and choco chips.  Mix, freeze, eat!  Yum!

Lots of coin!!

Time to turn our coins into dollars!  Coin exchanges aren't very well received at any of our local banks, so we deal with the service charge and take them to a coin service machine.  And we had a lot of change!!
It took us about 15 minutes to turn our coin into dollars and we walked away with $160 (deposited about $180). The convenience and time saved for us was worth the service charge.  Now we won't have to go back for a few more years!

Flash Back Friday - St Patrick's Day 2001

Party in San Francisco!  They know how to have fun on St Patrick's Day - closing the streets for block parties :)

Lunch and a walk

I met a friend for lunch and a stroll around Colt State Park.  It was almost warm!!

Damaged docks

We took a walk through town and saw that some town docks had been blown apart from some of the strong winds we have been having.

I hope they remove them soon, as pieces of them are starting to float away into the harbor causing environmental issues.
Some fishing boats also came into the harbor to stay out of some incoming storms.

Horseneck Beach

Exploring the beaches closer to home - a little more rocky, but still nice.

Sand bluffs are everywhere at this beach.

Back in the woods

Now that winter is here, we're able to take more walks in the woods.  We still have to be careful of little black bugs, but soon we won't have to worry about them!

 Cool and crisp mornings

Flash Back Friday - The vineyard with friends

Our friends from Reno came to visit us, not long after we moved to Lakeville, MA.  One day we took a trip to Martha's Vineyard.  It was a beautiful day and we had a lot of fun!!

Dinner at a new place

Gallifords!  Who knew such a lovely restaurant would be next to the zoo!  The Southwick Zoo!  It was a crisp chilly evening and nice to chat with friends.

Now that the time has changed, our adventures will be fewer.  We currently aren't training for any running or triathlon event, so our exercise is more sporadic, and we do a lot more walking.

Exploring a new coast

Chris & I have not spent much time on the south coast of RI, so on a cold sunny morning, we took a nice drive south.
The beaches are much nicer than our area - better sand and much wider & longer.  Bolts was so good - waiting for Chris to bring his ball.

Even though the temps were chilly (30's), the sun was warm and the wind was slight, so it was nice to stroll along the shore

We visited Point Judith, Narragansett Beach, Charlestown, and Misquamicut Beach
George's of Galilee - fishing boats were coming in and out

Westerly, RI was also quite beautiful to drive through.
It was such a nice morning and afternoon :)
