Keeping busy (but wishing the weather was a little warmer)

Our daily walks still take us to some fun places - local parks
and lovely neighborhood streets.  I do wish the weather was about 10 degrees warmer though.  Most days still require a winter jacket unfortunately.

Chris is keeping sane by working on his red coupe.  It's so nice that we have a lift in our garage now!

We gave Bolts a well needed bath!  We can't bath him too much as his skin is sensitive and it can cause a wave of scratch scratch scratching!
He doesn't look any better really, but his fur is a little fluffier.  His beard is still a wreck though :)
He promptly rolls in the grass and gets all dirty again!

Getting the sailboat ready!

We finally snuck out and went to the boat yard.  We needed to get our boat uncovered so it wouldn't start molding.

We were one of the highest boats around (due to our deep keel).

 Happy to have it uncovered
And then we had to fold up the cover - it is getting very thin in places - not sure how much longer we'll be able to use it...

Meetings still happening

My EBSF (sailing foundation) meetings are still happening - just via Zoom - like any other business.  We are hoping that we will have a summer program.  Too soon to tell, but fingers are crossed!

Spring Yard work!!

Grass is growing   - time to mow!  We've actually mowed a few times already this year. Yay spring!

And need to get ready for new mulch
 Now you see it!

We had 5 yards delivered - a lot less than our County Street house

Now it's gone! In just a few hours - all gone!

I ordered toilet paper on Amazon....  this wasn't what I expected...
We got a good laugh out of it anyway!

Flash Back Friday - Toy box!

I loved to play inside our family toy box as a kid.  Lots of fun interesting toys in there!!

FL neighbors

FL neighbors celebrated Easter 'social distancing' style!  They all dressed up in their Easter best and ate their lunch/dinner in their yards or garages (separately).   Nice of them to send me pics :)
Donna in her social distancing hat!  (Swimming pool noodles tucked into hat keeps people 6' away!)

My mom in her Easter outfit :)

Puzzles & Bike Rides

Rainy dreary days call for inside activities like puzzles (it will probably take us years to finish this...)

and sunny (and most definitely warm) days call for bike rides around the neighborhood.  Thank goodness we can still get outside for fresh air.  I am thankful to not be living in San Fran or Chicago these days.  I still love and miss those cities - but my small apartments there would be no fun during this pandemic!

Cooking fun!

I did order an instapot online (it's also an air fryer!), and we have used it during this shut in.  It is quite amazing!

But we still cook the old fashion way too - on the stove :)  These blueberry pancakes that Chris made - YUM!

It's a cat & dog's life!

Our cat lives a life of luxury - eats and sleeps.  Every once in a while (ok every day at some point), she will get off her butt and sit by her feeder, willing it to drop more food.

Then she goes back to relaxing.  But her brother likes to annoy her.  He was being nice this day - cleaning her ears.
But she eventually got tired of the attention.  (that's why we don't pet her too much...)
They quickly make up though - and are back to snooze buddies.

Some do's and don't's borrowed from FB

Borrowed Post from a friend on FB:
I hope this helps straighten out some of the confusion and misinformation out there! Here are the current findings in a short summary. Thanks to media’s scattered info.
The Rules:
1. Basically, you can't leave the house for any reason, but if you have to, then you can.
2. Masks are useless, but maybe now you have to wear one, it can save you, it is useless, but maybe it is mandatory as well.
3. Stores are closed, except those that are open.
4. You should not go to hospitals unless you have to go there. Same applies to doctors, you should only go there in case of emergency, provided you are not too sick.
5. This virus is deadly but still not too scary, except that sometimes it actually leads to a global disaster.
6. Gloves won't help, but they can still help.
7. Everyone needs to stay HOME, but it's important to GO OUT.
8. There is no shortage of groceries in the supermarket, but there are many things missing when you go there in the evening, but not in the morning. Sometimes.
9. The virus has no effect on children except those it affects.
10. Animals are not affected, but there is still a cat that tested positive in Belgium in February when no one had been tested, plus a few tigers here and there…
11. You will have many symptoms when you are sick, but you can also get sick without symptoms, have symptoms without being sick, or be contagious without having symptoms. Oh, my God.
12. In order not to get sick, you have to eat well and exercise, but eat whatever you have on hand and it's better not to go out, well, but no…
13. It's better to get some fresh air, but you get looked at very wrong when you get some fresh air, and most importantly, you don't go to parks or walk. But don’t sit down, except that you can do that now if you are old, but not for too long or if you are pregnant (but not too old).
14. You can't go to retirement homes, but you have to take care of the elderly and bring food and medication.
15. If you are sick, you can't go out, but you can go to the pharmacy.
16. You can get restaurant food delivered to the house, which may have been prepared by people who didn't wear masks or gloves. But you have to have your groceries decontaminated outside for 3 hours. Pizza too?
17. Every disturbing article or disturbing interview starts with " I don't want to trigger panic, but…"
18. You can't see your older mother or grandmother, but you can take a taxi and meet an older taxi driver.
19. You can walk around with a friend but not with your family if they don't live under the same roof.
20. You are safe if you maintain the appropriate social distance, but you can’t go out with friends or strangers at the safe social distance.
21. The virus remains active on different surfaces for two hours, no, four, no, six, no, we didn't say hours, maybe days? But it takes a damp environment. Oh no, not necessarily. And if the sun is out well that changes everything.
22. The virus stays in the air - well no, or yes, maybe, especially in a closed room, in one hour a sick person can infect ten, so if it falls, all our children were already infected at school before it was closed. But remember, if you stay at the recommended social distance, however in certain circumstances you should maintain a greater distance, which, studies show, the virus can travel further, maybe, sometimes.
23. We count the number of deaths but we don't know how many people are infected as we have only tested so far those who were "almost dead" to find out if that's what they will die of…
24. We have no treatment, except that there may be one that apparently is not dangerous unless you take too much (which is the case with all medications).
25. We should stay locked up until the virus disappears, but it will only disappear if we achieve collective immunity, so when it circulates… but we must no longer be locked up for that?

Thanks for the person who wrote all this down - to keep us from losing our minds!!  Ha ha

Flash Back Friday - first MV trip (1992)

I went to Martha's Vineyard in 1992 and fell in love!  I was living and working in Chicago.

It's still hard for me to believe that MV is now in my back yard!!

Some of our walks this week

We're still getting outside and trying to enjoy whatever the weather may be.  Bolts doesn't care as much - but he does prefer to see squirrels on his outings.  We don't have as many here as in FL.  They obviously prefer warm weather (who doesn't !!)
But he is super excited when he sees a few of those varmits :)
Spring is slowly sprouting, thank goodness!

The water is still ch ch chilly, but hopefully soon we will be enjoying the water view from our sailboat.

We take walks at all times during the day.  Sometimes we only get out once, but other times we are out walking 3 times.  It depends on the weather and what other exercise we did.
Sunsets are always pretty to see.
