Sailing in a Regatta

Help a friend crew on his beautiful boat on a beautiful day out of a beautiful yacht club for a wonderful cause?  Yes, please!
Leukemia Cup Regatta out of the NYYC!
The weather was a little crazy.  Dead calm before the start and quite warm (thankfully).  So we were planning on using the large jib.  But then a storm blew through (we didn't get any rain), so the winds picked up to 19!  So we started the race with the smallest jib

Then the winds died to about 8 - so in the middle of the race, we changed the jib back to the largest one!  Crazy stuff!

Nice view from the mooring after the race

The after party was casual , but lots of fun
Our skipper, Bob, and his nephew
Nice view of Newport Harbor from the grounds
We didn't podium, but still did well for an unseasoned crew - 5th out of 9!  These weekend races can be quite fun - we'll have to check out some more!

Yacht Club Racing!

1st race of the season!
The start is always crazy - the boats going in all directions, jockeying for the start

It's still early in the season, so not too many out there
There were 7 boats in our class
 Our full crew on board

It was a beautiful evening; although the wind over the water was a little chilly, but it was a good breeze for sailing

The 'moon rise' was pretty spectacular too!
And we ended up in 3rd place - so we got a cup!  Good start!

Memorial Day Fun

We rode our fat tire bikes for coffee

on the newly paved bike path (would rather they repave the roads...)

Bought a new microwave, since our last one was an 'over the stove' model and just too big for the counter
Bought some curtains (no, we haven't gotten a new pool table cover yet...)
 Went sailing with friends
Had a lovely dinner at the always amazing NYYC
Who can complain about these views?

We visited some old friends at Chris' brother's shop.
and made some plans to bring them to our new  home
On the rainy Sunday - we went antique shopping again - looked at some weather vanes & other cool stuff, but didn't buy anything

We were hoping to use an old lobster pot as an end table but they all seemed too big

Using a rope & pulley & chain - we hung up the sprint car above the basement stairs.  That was a project!  Not easy trying to get something heavy up in the air when you aren't on a flat surface
We spent more time at the yacht club - enjoying the views
I made cookies!  Very yummy too
 We relaxed
And spent some more time in the basement garage - getting it set up for More Cars!
