Sailing in a Regatta

Help a friend crew on his beautiful boat on a beautiful day out of a beautiful yacht club for a wonderful cause?  Yes, please!
Leukemia Cup Regatta out of the NYYC!
The weather was a little crazy.  Dead calm before the start and quite warm (thankfully).  So we were planning on using the large jib.  But then a storm blew through (we didn't get any rain), so the winds picked up to 19!  So we started the race with the smallest jib

Then the winds died to about 8 - so in the middle of the race, we changed the jib back to the largest one!  Crazy stuff!

Nice view from the mooring after the race

The after party was casual , but lots of fun
Our skipper, Bob, and his nephew
Nice view of Newport Harbor from the grounds
We didn't podium, but still did well for an unseasoned crew - 5th out of 9!  These weekend races can be quite fun - we'll have to check out some more!
