Weekend exploratorium!

A rainy weekend day - so we went exploring the west bay of RI

1st stop - Arcadia forest

 

We found a cool area to kayak and some good hiking/biking trails

 

 Good eats too (in the middle of nowhere diner :))

Then we took a scenic route - and drove through Wickford

 had brunch

 and walked the town

 Next - we cruised through East Greenwich

 and our final stop was Rocky Point Park!  We now live right across the bay from this once amazing amusement park

 It went bankrupt in 1995, so now its mostly vacant land with beautiful views of Narragansett Bay

 The Arch - a familiar meeting place for many families

 The saltwater pool used to be here...

 A few remnants of other rides still exist

 and a few fun trails to explore

It was a perfect way to spend a rainy weekend morning.  But Chris was anxious to get home & get stuff done!  :)

Winery!

Another Thursday - another night of winery relaxing!

 

Great band - Steeley Dan cover band and did an amazing job

 Lots of peeps!

 Good wine & good company :)

 Bolts had fun :)

Sailing race - with a twist!

It appeared to just be another Wed night race

 

 Good crew

 Lots of boats

 But where was our 2nd mark (buoy)??

 A lot of boats were looking...

 Ahh, the coast guard caught it!

 They pulled it out to do some maintenance on it... crazy!  Had to be the one we all had to round!

 So we had to make a large pass around the entire ship!

 Some boats cut it kinda close - as the coast guard was frantically calling our race committee; and others on the ship were waving to keep away.  We did a little larger rounding than most; with our friends in first place making the widest path.  The further behind - the closer they cut it, hmmmm

 More boats headed to the coast guard buoy!!

 

 

Awards time!   We got missed 1st place by 4 seconds! Ugh - probably the coast guard rounding; oh well - on to next week!!  Hopefully it won't be as crazy.

Nice evening walk around town

A couple times a week, we've been heading downtown to enjoy a walk after dinner.  The weather has been beautiful

BYC Cruise Day #7 - Cuttyhunk to Bristol

Long sail, but I didn't take many pictures :)  It was another beautiful day - we really had the best weather for our trip!!

 

We followed our friends Bill & Barbara out of the harbor & motor sailed for an hour.  Then the wind was good, and we were able to sail home!  We made it in 6 hours

 Fun times!

We cleaned & emptied our boat when we got back to Bristol - so glad we got home early enough to get it all done.

The yacht club had an island party when we got back.  We drove Woodrow

 everybody loved it!

 Party was fun & festive (too tired to take many photos).  It started outside for drinks & appetizers and we came inside for music and dinner.  A nice way to end the cruise week.
