San Diego - day 1 Coronado Island

pretty resort

nice run along the beach - it's a cool week - only in the 50's

then a walk downtown Coronado for a coffee

it was quiet so early

we found a good coffee shop - Trident

then we continued to walk

back to the resort to get changed and ready for the day

walking through the hallowed halls - checking out the old pictures - so cool

beautiful room that has housed many famous people over the years - love the crown chandeliers

then we continued our walk along the harbor

and back to town for breakfast

then we left the island and took a drive - saw the huge navy ships

then we went to Point Loma

we went on a hike to see the beautiful cliffs

it was windy :)

the drive back - passed the military cemetary

then took a drive to Ocean Beach - the waves were huge!  Pier was closed for the day

eclectic street, it was a fun walk

then back to our beautiful hotel

and dinner at a casual Italian restaurant

finished the day with another walk :)

 

San Diego trip

Chris had a work conference in San Diego, so I joined him ;)  We flew out a couple days early and stayed on Coronado Island at Hotel Coronado.  It was as beautiful as it looks.   Old school with a ton of history - many famous people have stayed here

Tampa Bay Lightening game

We bought tickets to a Lightening hockey game (expensive) and spent the afternoon before the game in downtown Tampa

we took a trolley ride to Ybor City

such a quaint neighborhood - reminds us of New Orleans.  Ybor City was once the Cigar Capital of the World.  Now it hosts boutiques and restaurants

And there are plenty of chickens running around too - similar to Key West

these guys also roost in the trees

a Truck/Zamboni was driving around blasting music - and calling everyone to jump on and ride to the hockey game.

so we did!

we had some good views from the back of the 'truck'

great game!  Bolts won 5-0 - beating Colorado

our friend Dale is a huge fan - and knows all the details, so it was good to watch a game with him

 

Low tires!

Lots of construction means lots of nails and screws in the road, which means flat tires.  Ugh!  3rd low tire in 3 weeks - 1 one week and 2 today!  Fortunately they weren't completely flat, just low tire pressure so we were able to get to a shop and get the tires fixed before they were an issue
