Other stuff besides sailing :)

I was pretty pooped from sailing, but did manage to get out a bit.   The sailing class was in Sarasota FL, so I was able to see some friends (who don't sail) and putter around town.    My mom & I took her car to the car wash (after I used it all week :))
home depot for some house supplies - and Christmas has already appeared, my gosh!
weather was warm, but I managed to get some nice long walks done

I met my friends for workouts most mornings

we went to Taco Tuesday!

and then met some other friends for appetizers - we ordered just a little too much!!

more walks around town
shopping for sailing stuff at West Marine
and more food!    It was a full on vacation!

LL week #2

our class was named the pink flamingos - and they told us we needed to do a skit on our last day.  Some of our group really got into it (thank goodness), so they planned the skit - and we just had to show up and practice :)

otherwise - it was more of the same - rig boat, chalk talk, sail, de rig boat.   Sounds easy - it's not!   So pooped after just a few hours.   Definitely wish I was a kid and learning this :)

we had a great week though - some light winds which helped us learn a little easier (not so worried about capsizing)

and just like that it was our final day - we had pink flamingo cupcakes & cookies
our skit - done to the tune of Sisters Sisters from White Christmas
we did great!

Cheers - you passed!   Now just show up every Thursday and race :)    I'll be back in RI, so won't be sailing for a while again.  Hope I won't have to start over from scratch...

more sailing days - watching the LL race!

our first week - and it's a thursday, so it's the Luffing Lassies race day.  we got to watch it from a powerboat

they all looked pretty good out there (we were all in awe :))  as we all know, pro's make it look easy.  Not that these ladies are all pros (although some are), but most have been sunfish sailing for years

back the the dock

chalk talk time - end of our first week!
lunch with our group!

sailing days

some storms have delayed our starts, but there is plenty to learn off the water

and there have plenty of days like this too - sunny & warm

our days are basically - arrive, rig boat, class time for an hour, where they discuss sailing terms, racing terms, rigging terms - anything and everything sailing, then we usually have lunch, and go on the water in the afternoon

there is a lot to learn - and even with 2 weeks, it's not nearly enough time, but we try anyway :)
