It's time for the Newport Concours d elegance! Chris' 1934 Ford Roadster was invited to the Friday event at Rough Point mansion (home to Doris Duke until her death in 1993)
It was a hot rod themed event - and we were there early setting up
A few other types of cars were there as well - Chris & Charlie checking them out
It was a beautiful morning - perfect for a long 'car' day
This mansion and it's views are just amazing
we (me & Chris, and our friends Charlie & Gloria) took a break and took a cruise around Newport. We ended up at the Inn on Castle hill for a couple breakfast cocktails
Nice view of Newport harbor :)
Then we headed back to Rough Point - some celebrities like Wayne & Jay were milling around too
The roadster had a nice vantage point.
we milled around the grounds, had lunch, hung out under the tents... it was a nice relaxing day
and of course looked at a lot of cars
Gloria & I tried some wine later in the day - not very good, too sparkling for my taste
we went around the back to the gardens too - that's where the caterers were organized - nice spot for them!
Late afternoon, it was time to head home - we took a couple cool photos in front of the mansion
Charlie's car had been giving him fits on his way down from MA. So he was following us home to park his car in our garage when it decided to quit. Fortunately, it needed a new coil and Chris had one. Easy fix and we were off again.
