Rolex 24 Day #3

nice night of sleep!  Breakfast to start the day off once again
then we took a quick walk on Daytona Beach (the 24 hour race didn't start until 1:40 pm)

we saw quite a bit of damage from Hurricane Ian .  So sad.  we weren't looking for it, but there was so much of it - where we were unfortunately

the rebuilding process will be a long one
then we headed back to the race track.  Chris wanted to check out the new Ford GT
we went to the Grid walk again - this time there were so many people, you couldn't see much

so we made  our way up to the grand stands to watch the start.  Crazy amount of people on the grid - you can't even see the cars
and the 24 hour race was On!

we watched for 4 hours

we had great seats - we could see the whole track, and we were right near turn one.  And we also had a giant TV screen to show us the up close photos.  Loved it

the weather was cool, but perfect for racing, so there weren't many spin outs - but we did catch a couple

we stayed until the lights came on, then left for dinner
we were able to watch the race at the restaurant :)

then we headed back to the track for a few more hours

yes, they have a midway for all the kids, and parents who don't want to watch racing for 24 hours :)

fireworks at 10 pm

we went back into the grandstands for about an hour

then we went to our tent to try and sleep for a few hours.  The temps were much warmer, so we didn't need a hotel :)
