For whatever reasons, my photos loaded last to first this time.... Day #22, we stayed in Lees Summit, MO which is approx 30 miles from Kansas City. We spent the day working in Big Blue. Then that evening, we took a drive to the city. It was quiet (most places were closed, early in the week). I would definitely come back for another visit. We didn't see a ton, but we got a nice feel and really liked it!
These first few photos were actually taken when we were done walking around, and driving out.
I was surprised at how modern the 'bus/trolley' system was. It felt very European. Electronic bus stops, sleek electric buses...
KC has lots of wall art, which we love to look at
a good mixture of old and modern buildings too
The only section that we found open (and there were only a few patrons). Kansas Power & light district. We bought some delicious Insomnia cookies, then listened to some music played by a DJ. They have a huge area with a massive television screen where you can sit and watch KC sports. The royals were playing (just behind our heads :))
It was a little chilly, but it was nice walking around town
We parked at Union Station, and walked down Main Street - we had to cross over these tracks - lots of trains
Union Station - quite impressive
WWI museum & memorial

Before driving to downtown KC, we took a nice drive around our camp ground - beautiful lake. Too bad we didn't have more time and better weather
