Sailing trip to Martha's Vineyard! We weren't leaving the dock until 8 am, so we took a nice walk along the bike path & board walk before we met our crew.
Then we loaded up & we were off! We were sailing with our friend Bob on his boat, Blue Devil. His wife was stuck in St Louis working, so it was just the 3 of us on his boat. Our friends, Bill & Barbara also came along, on their sailboat True Love.
Not much wind that early, so we motored quite a ways. It was a cool and cloudy morning. And supposed to stay that way for the entire day
Mt Hope Bridge!
Sakonnet Bridge

Sakonnet Point light house
We did get the sails up, finally! And there was a cool halo around the sun
Ominous clouds, but we never got wet
Our first night, we sailed to Padanaram (South Dartmouth, MA). On our way into the harbor, we ran into our friends Billy & Lisa. They bought a new (to them) powerboat and were off on a cruise. Nice boat! They circled us a few times, and we had a nice chat. I hope we get to cruise on their boat soon!
Padanaram harbor - flat!
Heading to shore on the New Bedford Yacht Club launch, Whale (built in 1929!)

New Bedford Yacht Club
the yacht club was closed (Sunday) for dinner, so we walked a few blocks to a restaraunt
Black Bass Grill - we haven't been here in a long time! It was good to be back
After dinner, we went for a nice walk around town
Then a stop for ice cream
Then more walking
and finally, we relaxed on the yacht club deck. We had the whole place to ourselves. It turned into a beautiful evening
Then once the bugs started to bite, we headed back to the sailboats
A nice calm harbor for sleeping!
