Sailing in Florida

We found a sailing club online that mentioned needing crew for a local regatta.  So we headed to Venice and jumped on a sailboat!

It was a beautiful day - sunny with a nice breeze.   We had to motor out of the harbor (took about 30 minutes)
The race started at 1 pm - and there were only a  handful of sailboats.  So we were lucky that one guy needed some help.  And we were thankful to have the opportunity to get out on the water.
There were 4 of us:  Bob the owner, Steven the Australian, me & Chris.

I took the helm a few times when Bob needed to help with the lines.  Otherwise I stayed out of the way :)

The water was so beautiful!  We were about 2 miles offshore.  The sailboat we were on was a little tired, so we were ready to jump in & swim if we needed to :)

We raced for about 3 hours, and then we came in.  The jetty was full of people (wishing they had been out sailing :))

Hoping we can repeat that again someday soon!
