Yacht Club cruise 2017! Day 1

Our yacht club plans a summer week long cruise every year.  This year, we put it on our calendar early, since we've always wanted to go!  There were 29 boats signed up for 6 destinations, although people drop in and out.  Like we sailed directly to Padanaram, while the cruise stopped at Sakonnet Point for the night (there weren't enough moorings available, and I had a wedding to attend on Saturday :))
Day 1 was a little drizzly, but warm, so not so bad

There was a beautiful ship hanging out in Bristol Harbor as we were departing
We did have some wind, so we were able to sail most of the day
We did have to motor sail down the Sakonnet river, since it can be narrow and the current is strong,

Once we were further down the Sakonnet, all the sails were out!

It was a great first day - took us 8 hours to get to Padanaram (South Dartmouth, MA).  Too busy to take any pictures when we got into the Padanaram harbor.

  1. We recently took a yacht cruise in New Jersey. I love the way the boat glides on the water. Perhaps my favorite part of the trip was going into those small inlets where we had to pass under a bridge, and watching the bridge operators open and close the bridges behind us. Ours was so tall I was amazed we fit under some of the bigger bridges.
