up early and to the medical facility we go! International travel requires a Covid test within 48 hours of returning to the states. What a pain! For the record, I won't travel internationally again while Covid restrictions are in place. Our travel days (and half of this day) were spent dealing with long lines and repeating information - not fun at all! This islands were especially strict since they didn't want Covid to spread and shut them down.
While we waited for our test results, we wandered around the island
there are lots of free roaming goats (on other islands too)
we stopped for Pasties at a local restaurant
then we decided to walk the mile to another bay which housed the famous Soggy Dollar Resort. It was quite the steep hill, up & over (below is our harbor)
and here is the Soggy Dollar harbor
the resort and sand was very nice. It was early in the morning, so nothing was open, we just strolled around for a bit
then we hiked back up & over ;)
our Covid results came back negative, so back to the boat we went
it was noon, so we planned our next stop (we weren't sure how long we would be waiting for the Covid results, so had made no plans)
we decided to cruise over to Sandy Kay
tiny little island with beautiful sand. We grabbed a mooring and went snorkeling
it was a beautiful spot!
then we decided to motor over to Cane Garden Bay (on the island of Tortola)
very resorting looking
we went ashore to check it out
Tortola is one of the inhabited islands, so there are some resorts, but also normal housing for locals. It is a depressed area - so just one street in, you will find junk cars, boats...
but the beaches were beautiful and the people were lovely
lots of pelicans in this harbor
we stopped for an afternoon cocktail
frozen dark & stormy's :)
then back to the boat!!
we sailed over to Sopers Hole (also on Tortola)
we saw this beautiful Swan sailboat crusing by
loved this house on the cliff!
the Swan again
our mooring home for the night!
we went ashore for dinner
and cruised around, just checking out the scenery
we went to look at the Swan sailboat (77 feet) and we met the owner. He invited us on - it was just as beautiful as we thought. The owner was very gracious, and we chatted for a bit
then we continued checking out the local scene
finally it was dinner time - Yum!
Another great day!
