BYC Cruise Day #6

We left the Vineyard and headed to Cuttyhunk - one of the Naushon islands

More sailing fun!

It was a little longer sail which made it nice - a lot of time to relax and enjoy the ocean breeze
We hung out in the harbor for a while

Then we paddleboarded to some friends

Later that day  - we headed to the only bed & breakfast on the island - the Fishing Club.  We were having a catered dinner - yum!

 Beautiful views

 Sea roses

Amazing views from the Fishing Club

Friends we spent a lot of time with all week - Dave & Myra from St Louis, but currently living in London; Bob & Lisa - split time between St Louis and Bristol, RI
 Another fab group photo

 Fishing Club
We decided to walk to the top of the hill (only one big hill) and watch the sunset.  The guys got distracted by some rusty motor
We passed the town hall; library; and church (all denominational) - these are all small one room buildings.  2 children are registered for school.  It's obviously a small island.
 Nice views from the top

Our walk down was nice & leisurely (thank goodness for bug spray!!)

An ice cream stand was still open!

A lovely way to end our cruise

BYC Cruise Day #5: Edgartown to Vineyard Haven

Heading out of Edgartown Harbor!
Just around the island to Vineyard Haven - we'd still be on Martha's Vineyard

A lot of wind and a lot of chop, so we reefed the main & jib and still flew
Bolts was happy it was a short sail!  He was even happier to get back to land!  Lovely view of the VH harbor

We did a lot of relaxing this day - a late start; and a lot of chilling on the boat.  But once we were revived, we took a bus to Bad Martha's Brewery -yum!

Then we had dinner at a casual pub in Oak Bluffs (it was a free night, so no cruise get together).  Our friends took a ferry to Nantucket, but we decided to stay on MV.
A nice walk around Oak Bluffs

 another beautiful sunset

Bus ride back to Vineyard Haven and our sailboat.  Bolts was starting to really enjoy these rides!

BYC Cruise Day #4: No Cruising;

We stayed an extra day in Edgartown, so we didn't sail.  A lot of the cruisers went to the beaches or took tours of the island.  We did our own tour - starting with a yummy coffee shop.

We didn't rent a car bc it was a short day, so we took the bus!  Bolts first time on public transportation.  He wasn't a fan at first, but eventually got into the swing of things.  (and it was cheap $$ - $8 for a full day pass - anywhere on the island!)

We enjoyed a nice cruise along the coast, then stopped at Gayhead

I never get tired of these cliffs.
Our next stop was Menemsha - another favorite.  I love seeing local artists do their thing.  There is so much talent in the world!

Menemsha harbor is small and industrial, but we still love it
Then we made our way to Vineyard Haven & had lunch at the Black Dog cafĂ©.

We had early dinner plans, so we headed back to Edgartown after VH.  Then it was time to shower & get presentable for dinner at the Edgartown Yacht Club
 cocktail hour

dinner - a little crowded, but we made it work :)

Good dinner & fun conversation.  We took a nice walk around town with some friends.  (Then we had to head back to the sailboat & take Bolts for his 'hopper' run :))
