Sailing - racing and cruising

Work on the yacht club is moving along.  Slow but steady.  Completion date is still unknown.
Wednesday night racing is still going strong.  This Wednesday, some T storms were in the area, so we weren't sure we would race
Turns out the storms stayed away, but they did kill our wind
So we all hung out for an extra 30 minutes hoping the wind would pick up, but no luck.  They cancelled ;(
The following weekend, we were on the boat early to get some work done.  Our speed meter had been defunct for a while, so Chris finally received a new part and replaced the old one.
Lots of wires!  I'm glad he knows what he's doing :)
It was a nice day for a sail.  Since it was just the 2 of us, we kept it simple
We reefed the main and put on the small head sail.  We just wanted to go easy and relax
The dog prefers the easy sails too.

Another day we went sailing on a week day!  So we got to see the EBSF kids out and about.  So fun to watch them enjoying themselves.
our friend Bob was teaching the EBSF kids how to use a spinnaker

I watched the kids and Chris cleaned the boat while we were tied up to the yacht club dock.
Then we went out for an easy sail around Hog island.  It's a 5 1/2 mile course - so perfect for a late afternoon cruise.
This time we only put the head sail up!  We had good wind and just had a relaxing and fun afternoon

Our next Wednesday night race had a lot more wind!  T storms were lurking again, but they stayed away and didn't take our wind.
We put up the big head sail
Perfect wind!  We crossed the line in 2nd and came in 2nd.  Only 10 seconds behind the 1st place winner.

It was a lovely evening.  Worked hard to stay ahead of the spinnaker class so they didn't take our wind as they came up behind us

 Finish line!

The dock is always crazy busy on race night
dinner time & awards under the tent
